about
"New York" was originally written as an acoustic song by the band's bassist Tal, but after working with Jonny on the melody and lyrics, the song gradually became an epic story full of upheavals, told in just over 5 minutes, starting with its dreamy and melancholic beginning and peaking with an epic crescendo in the last half minute of the song. If you ask the band, the song (and the video which was directed by Gil Peled) feel like a tragic pop candy, sprayed with particles of romance inspired by bands such as The Cure and Interpol.
lyrics
Back in the old times I was under a spell,
Who's stepping forward and takes two steps back?
In 3 degrees of sorrow,
I'll guilt my way to stay,
Promises came along,
Her charming scent,
You wear your smile like the fashion demands,
The hours pass you but tonight we're here to play,
Electrified,
By the sound of the people,
This time I could act like me,
Cause there's no tomorrow,
No there's no tomorrow
When you're going insane
Inside the tunnel where the train stands still,
A kiss or whisper and a love to kill,
No time to fall out, ohh,
I've gotta keep up tight,
But if we turn back will time still wait?
For all the pleasures burned by luck or fate,
Colors are blending now,
So don't procrastinate
